CRDB gets govt kudos for sponsoring Quran competition

DAR ES SALAAM: THE government has praised CRDB Bank for sponsoring the 33rd International Quran Recitation Competition held in Dar es Salaam.

The Prime Minister, Mr Kassim Majaliwa, who represented President Samia Suluhu Hassan, currently on a work visit to Tanga Region delivered the praise yesterday at the climax of the event.

“These competitions inspire the recitation of the Holy Quran, provide opportunities to foster good morals, unity, love and solidarity and promote Tanzania internationally.

“Through these competitions, we strengthen diplomacy and business, including the tourism sector,” said Prime Minister Majaliwa when praised CRDB sponsorship through its Al Barakah window. President Samia briefly passed through the venue and extended her blessings to the participants.

The competition, which includes two categories—one for children under the age of 13 and another for youth above 13— gathers participants from different parts of the world.

The Premier said that the competition, which brings together Muslims from all corners of the world to remind each other of the importance of reciting and preserving the Quran, also encourages the community to develop a culture of reading the holy book.

CRDB Group Managing Director and CEO Abdulmajid Nsekela, said that the bank, as a leading financial institution in the country, always strives to meet the needs and expectations of its customers, which is why it continually works to create products that align with market demands.

“This is why we introduced the Al Barakah window, which offers services based on Islamic principles—foundations that are central to Islam.

This window is vital for Muslims engaged in business, investment, performing Hajj or Umrah and other related purposes,” Mr Nsekela said.

He said that religion is a crucial tool in building a morally upright society, promoting peace, and ensuring stability in the country, enabling the private sector to do business and implement projects in every investment. Six winners were announced during the grand finale of the competition.

In the adult category, Mohamed Amin Hassan from the US emerged as the winner, followed by Islaam Ali Shalouf from Libya and Malak Abdulaziz AlRabee from Saudi Arabia.

In the children’s category, Zayd El Bakkali (13) from Morocco led, followed by Yusuf Yasin (11) from Uganda and Mohamed Yacine (8) from Algeria.
