CRDB Foundation backs youth start-up platform
DAR ES SALAAM: THE CRDB Bank Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering young entrepreneurs by supporting the launch of a new platform aimed at linking youth-led start-ups with key players in the business ecosystem.
The Foundation sponsored the launch of the National Enterprise Development Chamber (NEDC), a non-governmental organisation that connects innovative start-ups especially those led by young people with entrepreneurs, investors and public institutions to foster partnerships that enhance the business and investment climate in the country.
The initiative drew praise from the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office responsible for Labour, Youth, Employment and Persons with Disabilities, Mr Ridhiwani Kikwete, who commended the Foundation for promoting entrepreneurship and financial literacy through its Imbeju Programme.
“The CRDB Bank Foundation is doing an exceptional job in uplifting young people through its Imbeju Programme. The entrepreneurship and financial education you provide are invaluable. Your commitment to supporting the NEDC is also commendable and will help integrate more youths into formal financial services,” said Minister Kikwete.
The Foundation said it works with stakeholders to improve the lives of economically and financially marginalised communities by providing entrepreneurship training, financial education and startup capital to eligible entrepreneurs.
“In promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, we are driving the growth of youth-led innovations and startups. We empower young people and women through training in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, business management, record-keeping and resource mobilisation strategies as well as fostering innovation through programmes that nurture and grow early-stage businesses,” said the Foundation’s Executive Director, Tully Esther Mwambapa.
The Foundation said it recognises the importance of building financial capability for low-income communities and promoting a culture of saving and investment. It added that integrating youths and women into formal financial services without imposing harsh conditions is essential to improving quality of life.
“CRDB Bank Foundation (CBF) recognises the power of strategic partnerships in bringing about positive change, as this is the surest way to open more opportunities for young entrepreneurs and women across the country. We work with the government to advance financial inclusion and foster innovative solutions and with the private sector to boost investment in entrepreneurship and financial literacy,” said Tully.

The Founder and CEO of NEDC, Jesse Madauda, said the organisation will continue working with government bodies, public and private institutions and other partners to support Tanzania’s economic development.
“By combining forces, resources and strategies, we believe we can accelerate the growth of start-ups with the potential to transform communities,” said Madauda.
CRDB Bank said it is one of the leading financial institutions in East Africa, offering services to individual, SME and corporate clients, including personal banking, treasury services, insurance, business loans, agriculture financing and microentrepreneur empowerment.
