Congolese national sentenced for illegal entry, forgery 

THE Kisutu Resident  Magistrate’s  Court  has sentenced a Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)  national,  Said Nuru Issa (42) to pay a fine of 1,100,000/-  or  to go  to  jail  for  seven  months for   living  in the country  contrary to the law and provide false information about his citizenship to  immigration officials.

The judgment was delivered on Friday by Principal Resident Magistrate Evodia Kiharuzi who heard the case.

Prosecution led by  Senior State  Attorney   Godfrey  Ngwijo claimed  before  the  court  that  on  September 6, this year  at  Mgomeni area in  Kinondoni  District,  the  accused  Said  Nuru,  being  a  Congolese  national was arrested for entering and living into the country illegally.

He said, in the  second count  the accused  is charged for misleading  Ilala  District  Immigration  officials by  providing  forged  documents   with the intention of  obtaining  national identification.

The accused was provided with national identity number 1978082141210000329.

The prosecutor asked the court to provide punishment in accordance with the law.

However, the   accused asked the court to forgive him because he has pleaded guilty and it is his first offense.
