Coast Region tops employment creation with over 86,600 jobs

COAST REGION: THE Minister in the President’s Office (Planning and Investment) Professor Kitila Mkumbo has commended Coast Region for producing 86,621 employments through industrial and investment sectors and become a champion in implementing President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s priorities in the area of creating employment.

Prof Mkumbo was speaking on Tuesday at a brief ceremony to hand over investment agreement documents to investors who have been given areas in the Bagamoyo Eco Maritime City Special Zone (BEMC SEZ), in parallel with the release of a report on the country’s investment situation for the year 2025.

“I want to congratulate Coast Region and particularly the regional leadership for emerging in the first position in implementing our President’s priorities to create employment opportunities especially for the youths in our country”, he said.

In terms of investment projects production, the region ranked second with 208 projects, while Dar es Salaam region led with 34,000 projects.

Speaking at the event, the Director of the Tanzania Investment Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA) Mr Gilead Teri mentioned companies that were given contract documents as Canary Industrials Limited and Grosso Engineering and Fabricators Limited.

Others are Jaribu Cashews Production Limited, Novara Global Steel, Shah Steel Global and MCGA Auto Limited.

Moreover, Mr Teri said the companies represent investments in various sectors which contribute significantly to the growth of the country’s economy including steel industries, engineering, agricultural processing as well as automotive sector and its services.
