GOVERNMENT Chemistry Laboratory Authority (GLCA) has said climate change is affecting species of plants used for natural medicines.
According to the CLCA’s manager in charge of food laboratory and medicines said in Dar es Salaam recently that since some plants have been adversely affected by the climate change, functionality of some medicine has been compromised as a result.
“Also, some species have disappeared due to human activities including deforestation,” Dr Peter said.
He pointed out that climate change can lead to other uses of natural medicine besides fighting parasites, fighting pesticides and other things that cause the characteristics of plants to change.
