Biteko urges public to support development initiatives

GEITA , Bukombe : THE Minister for Minerals Dr Dotto Biteko has urged Tanzanians to support efforts being made by the government to promote the country’s development regardless of the former’s political affiliations.

Dr Biteko   who is also Bukombe MP issued the remarks recently during a public meeting held in t Uyovu village of Bukombe district, a meeting that involved leaders of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) in Geita region.

He said in 2015, when he was initially elected as a representative for Bukombe constituency, the district (of Bukombe) had only three health facilities but to date there are 11 of them with other 22 under construction.

“We have added the health centres from two, namely Uyovu and the Ushirombo to seven health centres to date in our district. We have set out strategies to improve Uyovu health center, we are upgrading it to a hospital to relieve people from travelling to Ushirombo to access health services,” he said.

The minister noted that the development is the result government plans and projects implementations where he urged the citizens and politicians in the country to appreciate such efforts and support the government.

“We are working to promote development to our people, we are working to reduce the burdens on our people, those who chose to speak, let them speak, we will act because we have chosen to act rather than speaking.

“We should never be divided on the basis of political parties; members of Chadema should love those affiliated to CCM, and CCM members should love Chadema, but Chadema should learn something a little; at least admit that something good has been done,” said Dr Biteko.

The Geita Region Commissioner Mr Martin Shigela said that the improvements in health services and road infrastructure are aimed at opening up the Geita region to become a business centre in the Lake Zone.
