ATCL cargo plane starts operations

AIR Tanzania Company (ATCL) began cargo flights to Dubai last Friday using the newly arrived Boeing 767-300F freighter.

Witnessing the departure of the plane at the Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam on Friday, ATCL Business Director Patrick Ndekena said the new plane which arrived in the country early in June 2023 will have two trips in a week to and from Dubai.

He said the ATCL will ensure that the products of local and foreign traders arrive on time with their quality to various destinations.

“We are very happy to officially start flights with our new Boeing 767-300F cargo plane with the ability to travel long distances with a capacity of carrying 54 tonnes at a time. Trip to Dubai will be twice a week, Monday and Friday,” he said.

Elaborating on the capacity of the plane Mr Ndekana  said that the Boeing 767-300F is a modern plane capable of travelling at a distance of 850 kilometres per hour and staying in the air for more than 10 hours without landing.

Mr Ndekana thanked President Samia Suluhu Hassan for continuing to enable ATCL to operate commercially.

On the other hand, the freight forwarding agent Mr George Magoti said the presence of the plane is a saviour for business people in the country as it will help them reduce transportation costs.

In addition, he said, the cargo carried by the Air Tanzania plane will be taken to Dubai and from there it will be transported to the United States which will be more easily and quickly.
