THE President’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG) in collaboration with the University of Mzumbe have conducted master class training to Assistant Regional Administrative Secretaries (ARAS) in order to boost accountability and efficiency.
Speaking during the opening of the training held this week, Mwanza Regional Commissioner (RC), Mr Adam Malima urged the secretaries to strengthen supervision, monitoring and evaluations of development projects including school expansion so as to attain the expected outcome.
“ARAS are key to the national development, because they are responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising and monitoring implementation of all development projects,” the RC said.
He added that such regular trainings were crucial especially in project management because as leaders who oversee public projects they are required to have sufficient knowledge to ensure that the projects are accomplished.
The RC said that after concluding the master class course which aims at equipping them with project management skills the beneficiaries f the training should go to the field to ensure that the money allocated for the projects are used as intended and ensure value for money.
He also urged them to change the way they carry out their duties in this digital era and use the technology to monitor development projects.
For his part, Assistance Managing Director of Government Regional Affairs, Mr Johnson Nyingi who coordinated the training said upon completion they expect increased efficiency in implementing the projects countrywide to promote economic growth.
He said that assistant regional administrative secretaries will be equipped with project writing skills in a digital era and team work building to ensure that implementation of government projects is undertaken in a collaborative and inclusive way.
Morogoro’s Assistant Regional Administrative Secretary, Mr Anza Ndossa said they have received the RC’s directives and pledged to uphold strong work ethics including hardworking, diligence, and trustfulness for regional and national development at large.
The training that kicked off in Mwanza Region on November 8 this year comprises 26 assistant regional administrative secretaries from all regions across the country.
