Alliance heads to open multisport centre

THE Managing Director of the Mwanza -based Alliance Academy, James Bwire said they expect to open a technical centre that develops young athletes to be better and highly disciplined in sportsmanship.

He said they aim to drill both boys and girls in football and athletics in sprint, middle and long-distance races.

Bwire who made the remarks during an exclusive interview with Daily News yesterday said: “We want to open a technical college in our centre where a player can learn athletics and make a living.

“Sports open doors of opportunities to both men and women. Seeing how sports can improve the lives of most youth, we thought of having an academy and college to train children, teenagers and young adults to be better and more disciplined athletes.

“We have witnessed athletes in Tanzania excelling in sportsmanship; they make a living, travel to countries and enjoy their talents. It is why we chose to invest in players from the grassroots level, allowing them to excel as professionals when they become adults,” Bwire affirmed.

He added that big clubs will see and scout the players through the centre.
