African heads of state plant trees in solidarity against the impacts of climate change

ADDIS ABABA: THE Tanzanian Vice President, Dr. Philip Mpango, joined Heads of State and government from various African countries in a tree-planting exercise held at the Addis Ababa International Conference Center (AICC) in Ethiopia.

The event took place ahead of the Second African Heads of State and Government Summit on Climate Change.

The tree planting activity symbolized African unity and solidarity in protecting the environment and addressing the impacts of climate change. The leaders demonstrated a shared commitment to taking concrete action to safeguard Africa’s environment for the benefit of both current and future generations.

Dr. Mpango is representing the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, at this important summit. The conference serves as a platform for African leaders to discuss and coordinate common positions on climate change challenges.

Moreover, the summit aims to mobilize climate finance and facilitate the exchange of experiences on strategies and efforts being implemented across the continent to confront the rapidly escalating climate crisis.
