ABOUT 300 police officers have been deployed in Dar es Salaam to search for teenage armed gang members famously known as ‘Panya Road’ allegedly causing havoc in different parts of the city.
This has been revealed by the Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Amos Makalla on Thursday, a day after the killing of a university female student.
Mr Makalla alleged that apart from killing the group has been linked to other criminal incidents including robbing people’s properties.
“If a parent or guardian doesn’t see his or her child during this particular period just go to the Police Station or hospital,” he advised.
He insisted: “We will not entertain them anymore. They started here at Zingiziwa, Tabata Kinyerezi and now they have arrived at Mzimuni Kawe,” he said.
Earlier today, Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr Tulia Ackson directed the Government to take immediate measures in dealing with the locally armed groups.
Speaker Tulia issued the directive in Dodoma when she was reacting to Special Seat MP
Bahati Ndigo who raised concern over citizens safety.
Ms Bahati asked Bunge to temporarily suspend Thursday’s scheduled businesses for MPs to discuss the matter.
