VP Mpango departs for France to represent President Samia at UNOC3

FRANCE: VICE -PRESIDENT, Dr Philip Mpango yesterday departed for France to represent President Samia Suluhu Hassan at the third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3).

According to the statement released by the Vice President’s office, the conference is taking place in the Nice City from June 9 to 13, this year.

UNOC3 is an important international platform, which aims at promoting the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14 (SDG 14).

Co-hosted by France and Costa Rica, the conference focuses on conserving and sustainably using the oceans, seas and marine resources.

The conference brings together Heads of State and Government from UN member countries, international organisations, civil society groups and the private sector.

Moreover, Dr Mpango is expected to participate in bilateral meetings aimed at strengthening cooperation between Tanzania and the organisations and nations attending the conference.

The forum will help enhance the country’s global standing, foster new partnerships and mobilise resources for the development of the blue economy.

The Conference will build on the previous UN Ocean Conferences, hosted by Sweden and Fiji in 2017 in New York and by Portugal and Kenya in 2022 in Lisbon
