A CHANNEL Ten reporter here, Mr Daudi Mwangosi, has died following skirmishes that ensued as police attempted to disperse what are believed to be Chadema supporters at Nyololo Village, Mufindi District in Iringa Region.
The melee lasted for about 30 minutes. It saw police and the furious opposition party members engaging in running battles that also left one policeman seriously injured. Police had fired tear gas and live ammunition to disperse the crowd which refused to disperse and instead, convened at the party’s office.
The Iringa Regional Police Commander, Mr Michael Kamuhanda, would not confirm Mwangosi’s death when reached for comment last night. However, he admitted that one person had died.
