THE Magu District Commissioner (DC), Jackline Liana, has hailed Alpha Choice over its commitment to provide training to livestock keepers. Ms Liana said this while officially opening a three-day workshop for livestock keepers in Magu District.
The training, which was conducted by municipal agriculture extension officers, targeted 50 livestock keepers in the district from three villages including, Bugabu, Kahangara and Ilunga.
"I think it is important for us to recognize the initiative that has been taken by Alpha Choice management, to support livestock keepers and general population here. "This is a precursor for further improvement on productivity among livestock keepers in our district," says Ms Liana.
The DC explicitly reaffirmed the government's commitment to continue working closely with other partners and development stakeholders, saying the fundamental goal is to improve people's living standards in the area.
"This initiative is part of people's economic empowerment, and the government will always support any endeavour aimed at improving wananchi's lives," she explained. The Alpha Choice Manager, Mr Gaurav Goel, says that his company saw it necessary to provide training not only for improved livestock best keeping practices, but also enable them secure reliable markets at local and international arena.
He also appealed to livestock keepers to use the acquired knowledge and skills to benefit other people living in the proximity. Magu District Executive Director, Ms Naomi Nko also expressed optimism saying the presence of Alpha Choice would play a decisive role to improve social welfare and provide employment to the locals.
